Hi Everybody :)
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and are well rested in anticipation of 2009...
To those of you that have resolved I hope it goes well for you :) Admittedly the only New Year’s resolution I ever managed to sustain was the: “I will never make another New Year’s resolution as long as I live” resolution :P It was very liberating I can say in all honesty; getting to February sans the guilt of failed good intentions, exercise plans, health regimes and the breaking of bad habits...
This year I have decided much more to look at a new year from the point of goals, and achieving specific realistic goals as opposed to simply trying to ‘re-wire’ my personality with a bunch of resolutions normally made as under indulgent circumstances. As a friend once said to me: it is always easiest to say you will give up your excesses when you are smack dab in the middle of them, you can’t quite connect with a sense of lack while in the midst of excess...
Goals also don’t imply restriction and rules in the same way that resolutions do... It is much the same as being ravenously hungry the minute you say you are on a diet, the mind seems to go into panic mode. Saying “I intend to achieve this or that” seems a lot easier to digest that “I will not do this or that”, if in the achieving of goals you need to say no to certain things it somehow seems easier than simply having to say no because you have resolved to say no... So this year I am taking the tack of saying yes to the positives rather than no to the negatives :)
But to the jaded I say; find your optimism for the new year, I think the mental thing of seeing out the old year on an arbitrary date as if it were some how magical is highly under-rated. We all like the idea of a clean slate, and if that is what the first day of January implies, then go with it, start your fresh start and enjoy every minute of it as long as it lasts :)
Have a fabulous January!
Love and light

The Prophet, On Laws
Then a lawyer said, "But what of our Laws, master?" And he answered:
You delight in laying down laws,
yet you delight more in breaking them.Like children playing by the ocean who build sand-towers with constancy and then destroy them with laughter...read more

This Thing Called You
You, like all others, are seeking the joy of living. You wish to be needed, to be loved to be included in the great drama of life. This urge is in every individual. It is in everything. The rose exists to express beauty. Root and branch conspire with nature to give birth to blossom. An artist will starve in his garret that he may chisel an angelic form from a slab of marble, compelling the unyielding substance to accept his breath of creation... more

The Yearly Resolve
As the year draws to a close, most people start thinking about their New Year’s resolutions. It’s a good conversation starter at office Christmas parties. Of course, resolutions such as smoking, gorging on Christmas puddings or drinking a bit too much eggnog are only intended to be followed after the festive season ends and not during it... more

How to Achieve Your Goals
Have you ever started off the New Year by making grand new promises to yourself? You list out your new goals (and re-list some old ones). You get excited about what you'll accomplish. You think about how great your life will be when you get all those things done. And then sometime in December, you look back and wonder where all the time went? ... more
