Hi Everybody :)
Well here we are at the end of another year, hope those of you planning to go away on holiday will have a safe and pleasant journey :)
This month I had another one of those wow lessons at the University of Life. Time and again I find it so utterly amazing what animals can show us and teach us... Last week, one of our cats came into the house with a new born baby rabbit that he’d found somewhere. It took us a little while to figure out what it was, the tiniest thing you’ve ever seen with its eyes still closed. Anyway, he looked like a little white mouse, and so over the next few days the name just stuck and he became Mouse.
We tried our best to beat the odds and rear the little guy knowing that if we were lucky, the chances of his survival were around ten percent. He passed away yesterday after making five days with us, and it was as crushing as if he had been with us for five years. But what I realised is that this tiny little creature brought such a huge lesson with him when he came into our home.
He came with perfect love and perfect trust, giving himself over into our care as though it was the most natural thing in the world. Mouse showed us what it feels like to be consumed with unconditional love. To love something so completely when you know that you will suffer a terrible grief at its inevitable loss, but you love with all your heart anyway. Imagine if we could all love each other like that? I think the world would be a much better place for it.
So while sad that we couldn’t fill his mom’s shoes and rear him into adulthood, I will always be grateful for the lesson Mouse brought with him, and ever amazed at the University of Life, and the teachers it employs :)
We wish you a wonderful festive season filled with much joy and love :)

Sushi Wars
If an army marches on its stomach, then the key item in the kit bags of the Roman legions that conquered southern Europe about 2,000 years was dried bluefin tuna. But having survived the demands of the Roman conquest, the species — each of which can weigh as much as 1,500 pounds and live as long as 40 years — might finally have met its match in the contemporary global appetite for sushi... more

What Is Spiritual Growth?
Is it to find the meaning of life?
Is it to find your self?
Is it to get rid of the Self itself?
Is it to become a better person?
Is it to become a greater person?
Is it to become enlightened?
Is it to become at all?
Maybe the Autobiography in Five Chapters’ from The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying can shed some light on spiritual growth: ... more
