Hi Everybody

Another month has come and gone and here we are mid way through winter, I can’t believe that I have been sending these newsletters out for almost a year already!

My husband and I spent a week in Mpumalanga this month doing very much of very little, and it was really nice to get away and do nothing for a change. We’re both Aries and notorious for burning the candle at both ends for prolonged periods of time, with this being our first “away” i.e. real holiday in almost two years.

It’s quite difficult to wrap your head around doing nothing when you work for yourself and your boss tags along on vacation with you, but I’m glad I managed to reason with her and not do any of the work I took along with me. :) I see now that while the pressure is on for this month end, actually having a break has not caused any major disasters in my life, the world is still turning and I think I’m much better able to deal with life after having had a break.

Something that has been coming up more and more in my life, in the literature I read or even just in passing is the need we all have to give ourselves time to ourselves, something we all do too rarely. The most common complaint I have on my meditation courses is time, or a lack of time to sit quietly for a few minutes every day, and make no mistake, I’m just as convinced of my lack of time, and yet, we spend so much time wasted, we all have time to spend on the things that don’t feed our spirits, we can spend two or three hours a night in front of a television, but not 15 minutes with ourselves, doing something that we love, that nurtures us, whether that is 15 minutes spent in quiet meditation or an extra 15 minutes languishing in a scented bath by candle light.

After my break, I’ve decided to take the time to be really honest with myself. Do I really not have the time to nurture my soul, or am I simply uncomfortable giving to myself? And maybe, in this process of being honest, I might just find those extra fifteen minutes to do something that my soul will be grateful for. And if you asked that question of yourself, what do you think your answer would be? Let me know how that goes :)

Have a fabulous July, until next month then…

Love and light

10 Ways To Raise Your Consciousness

What does it mean to become more conscious?  It is the progressive realization of conscious mastery over your mind. The challenge is that it takes consciousness to grow consciousness.  But you needn’t worry about this because you already have the seed.  Think of it like fire.  You have a flame, and you want to turn that flame into a huge blaze.  How do you do it?  You add fuel.  The following list includes examples of how you can add fuel to your flame of consciousness to become...read more

Cancer ~ The Crab

Cancer subjects are "tried and true" individuals who cling to tradition as though they were a part of it. Some are even fearful of the future and the unknown, while others find the real world to be a threatening place, whereupon they retreat into dreams and fantasies, sheltering themselves in the relative safety of the past. Yet, the moods and even the purposes of Cancer natives may become as changeable as this Sign's ruling planet, the Moon.... more

Love What You Do

People who love what they do or do what they love at work aren’t lucky, they’re grateful. Job misery costs employers almost US$300 billion a year in lost productivity. But going to work uninspired every day, costs employees their lives. Many people go through life with what they call the ‘Monday Morning Blues,’ ‘Wednesday Hump Days,’ ‘Thank God It’s Fridays,’ and ‘Week-ends.’ That is not a very inspiring existence... more

The Prophet – On Teaching

Then said a teacher, "Speak to us of Teaching." And he said:No man can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of our knowledge. The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness... more
