January 2008

Hi Everybody,

Happy New Year! :) I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and that you are all well rested and ready for the new year. I’ve had a nice month even though I didn't get to take my break when originally planned. I was busy at the healing sanctuary, and it was really nice to have my husband home more with the odd days off here and there.

I have always wondered what it is about the first of January that manages to spur people into action, even if they are still tired, it’s like a magical day that inspires people and gives them the second wind they need to turn over a new forest in their lives. Even if the new years resolutions are not entirely realistic or previous years have shown that by the end of January, many of the resolutions are long forgotten. It is as though something clicks over in our minds and begins the cycle all over again. I like to think it has to do with our eternal ability to hope, and that makes it something special, even people who are naturally pessimistic seem to be inspired by the beginning of a new year, as though each year holds the promise of something better, where the previous year has somehow failed.

So even if the coming year isn’t necessarily going to be any different to the previous, I think each New Year’s resolution made, and each person’s excited anticipation of the coming year shows us something exceptional about ourselves; that aforementioned ability to always have hope. Anticipation and inspiration can really make us do amazing things, so maybe this year we should look for the things that give us hope, inspire us and give us something to look forward to, to keep us in the frame of mind that gets us up and going at the beginning of each year. Why always only wait for one special day?

I have included an article on the Five Tibetan Rites with this newsletter, they are five simple exercises that are truly beneficial to anyone wanting to start an exercise programme, I thought since it is January and most people have their resolutions and the gusto that seems to come out of nowhere, it would be a good month to put this article in :)

Also, along with the Meditation series, this year I am beginning the Energetic Life series of workshops, so if you are interested in learning more about the Chakras and energy, please take a look at the updated course diary page at the bottom of the newsletter.

I’ll be taking my break between the 29th of December and the 6th of January so I will be unavailable for treatments until the 7th of January.

I hope you all have a fabulous start to 2008!

Love and light

The Prophet - On Work

Then a ploughman said, "Speak to us of Work." And he answered, saying: You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth. For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life's procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite. When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music. Which of you would be a reed, dumb and silent, when all else sings together in unison? ...More

The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth

Peter Kelder published a booklet in 1939 entitled ‘The Eye of Revelation’, originally written as a 32 page booklet in which Kelder claims to have met a retired British army colonel, the mysterious Colonel Bradford in Southern California during the 1930’s. Colonel Bradford, who should have at his age been a stooped and bent old man, appeared to Kelder to be a man in the prime of his life. This marvellous youth and vigour is attributed by Kelder to Bradford’s daily practice of what are now commonly known as The Five Tibetan Rites. These are a series of exercises similar in certain ways to traditional Tibetan Yoga. While the true origin of these exercises remains uncertain… More

 Dreaming - Part II

In part one of Dreaming we looked at the stages of sleep, and possible explanations for why we dream. Although no one is entirely sure, dreams do appear to be necessary for both our physical and emotional wellbeing. This chapter introduces four of the main dream theorists that have been instrumental in the way dreams and dreaming are perceived from a psychological point of view, as well as paving the path to their interpretation. ...More
